18th Annual Doris Duke Historic Preservation Awards

Join us to celebrate excellence and innovation in historic preservation!
The annual Doris Duke Preservation Awards, a joint program of the Newport Restoration Foundation and the City of Newport, encourages excellence in historic preservation by recognizing exemplary preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation projects as well as education and advocacy initiatives that have taken place throughout Newport County. The awards also seek to highlight innovative approaches to preservation, including new technologies, materials/products, creative adaptive reuse, climate change adaptations, and similar progressive concepts.
This year we are honoring:
The President’s Award recognize Mrs. Hope “Happy” H. van Beuren and Mr. Charles A. Dana for exemplifying Doris Duke’s vision of preserving and restoring Newport, RI’s architectural heritage and character
Belmont Chapel Foundation for the restoration of the Belmont Chapel
Historic New England for preservation and resiliency at Watson Farm
John and Margherita Marshall for interior craftsmanship and restoration of Hilltop
BCM Realty for the adaptive use of The Calvert, formerly the Cranston-Calvert School
Event details:
The Doris Duke Historic Preservation Awards will take place at Rough Point located at 680 Bellevue Avenue in Newport. Complimentary valet parking will be available.
Doors to Rough Point will open at 6:00 PM with the Awards ceremony beginning at 6:30 PM. Guests will enjoy cocktails, passed and stationed foods both before and after the ceremony.
